93 Days and 17 hours… and a Kitten.

24 Feb

That’s how long it has been since my last cigarette.

That’s right, so far there’ve been NO slip-ups for me!  I am officially three months smoke free, and my Love has gone his first full 24 hours without a cigarette.  He hasn’t quit, but he has still cut back significantly, and finally says he actually wants to quit.

I am so proud of him.

I am so proud of ME!

I have passed on approximately 3,748 cigarettes (~187 packs), which equals to roughly $637.00.

YAY, me!

Okay, enough tooting my own horn.  On to the cute stuff!

Lucky, my kitten (who isn’t really ‘kitten’ size anymore).  I did promise to have pictures (and I do) however, the only ones that are on the computer are from when we first got him, so you will see the ‘ball-o-fluff’ photos for now.

Am I ‘Officially’ An Artist Now?

31 Aug

So, a friend of ours came by last night, and she’s been telling me for a few weeks now that she had something ‘up her sleeve’ regarding my art, and has been very excited about it while at the same time leaving me in total suspense.  She has finally shared what the big secret was, and she is opening up an art gallery-like business, but instead of just being art, it will have all sorts of artistic mediums, including jewelry, etc., and she has asked me if I would be interested in being one of the artists whose art they will be displaying on the walls (and for sale)!

I’m extremely excited about this, and it means I will have to pick out, print, mount and frame several pieces.  No one except my mother has ever wanted to display my artwork before, so I am very excited about this opportunity!

It will surely be a few weeks or months before the work is hung, but when it is, I’ll be sure to post a picture of it!

That’s all, I just wanted to share that bit of exciting news with all of my wonderful followers and friends!

Edit Results (Part 2)

I also snatched a picture yesterday to edit. I didn’t want to use any that I couldn’t let people know I’d used (random pics from people who I don’t follow & vice versa), so, Angela, I hope you don’t mind that I also took the liberty of editing one of the photos you posted here. If you like it, feel free to download it, or if you  would prefer me to email it to you, just let me know.  (On the other hand, if you hate it and would prefer I take it down, I’ve got no problem doing that, either!)

AoK, Wal-Mart, Amusement Parks & Photography

15 Aug

So, I decided that I wanted to Commit some Kindness myself, and I have an idea of what I’m going to do, but I don’t want to say what it is, yet.  I got the supplies today though, so I’m hoping that tomorrow I’ll be able to post (with pictures) about what it is I am considering.

I did, however, manage to sneak in an Act of Kindness tonight.  We had to go shopping for a few things, and since we’re on night shift hours, the only place to go was Wal-Mart.  Now, if any of you have ever been to Wal-Mart at 1:30 a.m., you know that there’s not a real cash register open, just the self check-out lines (which I hate, because they cost people jobs, which we sorely need in this country right now).  We managed to get checked out without having to utilize the assistance of the woman who stands there and helps those of us who are losing the battle with the machine, but she needed to go help someone else, and I happened to glance up when she walked past, and she had the most sour look on her face.  She looked like one UN-happy person.

I had brought a pen and some sticky notes with me in my purse because before we left the house, I’d had half a mind to write notes and randomly leave them around the store, but I never actually did it.  So, I decided that for my act of kindness, I would write her a note on my pink, heart-shaped sticky note and leave it on her monitor while she was away.

I wrote, “Have a nice evening!” and as we walked past her little podium, I reached over and quickly slapped it on the screen (I heard some beeps when I did this, I really hope I didn’t cause too much havoc!) and continued walking.  I sincerely hope that this bit of mystery might brighten her night.

Before this, we had decided to take a trip to the local amusement park (to which we have season passes).  I had wanted to bring my camera so that I could take some photos in the park, but I was afraid that I might have to leave it sitting somewhere if we wanted to ride a ride, so I thought it best to leave it behind.  I was pretty disappointed about this, but I decided I’d try to take some decent pics with my cell phone.  Here are a few (you can make them bigger by clicking on them):

More Photography…

22 Jul

Apparently pictures really are worth a thousand words.  Pictures and posts about weight loss.  After reviewing my ‘Likes’ on posts I’ve made, the top two topics are my photos/photography posts, and my posts about weight loss.  Since weight loss is a hit or miss subject with me, I’ll make another post sharing some of my lens work.

I don’t proclaim to be a great shutterbug, but I have been told I have a natural eye.  So, here are a few more of my pictures, and I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoyed snapping them!

Post edited to add:  Only the second and third photo have been edited.  The first and last are exactly as I shot them, no ‘doctoring’.

Finally Ready to Stop Whining and Do Something

5 Jun

There’s no one in this world who criticizes and hates on me as much as I do, no troll in the blogosphere that could be meaner, nastier, or ruder to me than I am to myself.

Why?  What have I done to me?  What heinous crime did I commit against myself to deserve such maliciousness?  To tell you the truth, I really don’t know.  It must have been awful, because there’s not another person in the world that I would say these things to with the level of venomous, unmitigated malice that I say them with to myself.

Should I blame the media?  If all of their skinny models and airbrushed centerfolds are the source of my malcontent, why do I not despise everyone larger than a size 4?  Why do I not feel the same loathing toward the chubby checkout girl at Target?  Why did I just make the effort to be nice and say ‘chubby’ instead of ‘fat’ to spare the feelings of an imaginary person, when I call myself names that make ‘fat’ seem polite ?
