Kindness Cupcakes

All ready to go!

A Baker’s dozen, all ready to go!

Last night, while the rest of the world (or a good chunk of it, at least) was sleeping, I was planning my next act of kindness.

What I decided that I would do is bake cupcakes, and put little signs on them that said different things regarding kindness, with a plea at the bottom for the recipient to show kindness toward someone today.  On the back, I reminded them that the cupcakes contained eggs and flour, just in case anyone was allergic.

I set several aside because I planned to put one out for the mailman and since today is trash day, I figured I’d leave two for the trash guys, as well (sure hope there weren’t three guys!).  One was for my neighbor across the street, and as for the rest, I decided that I would walk around and give them away (I also ended up leaving 2 for my housemate and his girlfriend, and giving one to a friend who had stopped by earlier, left his phone, and had to return to pick it up).  As it turned out, the only person I actually saw was walking, trying to lose weight, so she didn’t want one.  I ended up leaving the rest on the hoods of cars in the neighborhood that I knew left early in the morning, and two outside the mini-mart in the neighborhood… I had no idea they weren’t open by six a.m., so I just left two on top of their morning papers.  Oh, well, it’s the thought that counts, I guess.

The Only True Lack In Our World Today

We are led to believe that there is scarcity in this world, and that is a lie.  The only thing there is a shortage of is money.  The goods are there, the food is there, the power (solar, water, geothermal) is there.  The only lack we have on this earth is lack that was created by those who wanted to have, while others had not.

What is the only thing standing between the homeless and a home?  Money – the materials exist, they simply cannot afford them. Continue reading

Bring Random Acts of Kindness Home

We often forget that Random Acts of Kindness are not limited to strangers. While yes, it is always a good feeling (as the giver or recipient) for one stranger to help another, we should not forget that those we know are often the ones most in need of AoK from us, specifically.

The old saying ‘Familiarity breeds contempt’ is true in the fact that we often tend to take for granted those that are closest to us.  We come to expect to be treated a certain way, or have things done for us, or begin to forget to go the extra mile because we don’t need to ‘make nice’ to those who are around us all the time.

Sometimes it means the most to those we’ve personally neglected, or those who have always taken care of us.  These people can include our parents, our children, our spouses, and our closest friends.

A perfect example of this is the A.o.K. that my Love committed that I shared in this post.  If anyone else had done this for me, yes, I would have appreciated it.  I would have been grateful, said thank you, and had a smile on my face all day, but it wouldn’t have been able to compare to the joy and happiness I felt by that unexpected and yes, random, act of thoughtfulness coming from the man I adore.  Nothing could have compared. Free Money – Swagbucks

Amazon Gift Cards

Today I’m going to blog about the ‘Free’ part of my ‘Free, Fun or Interesting’ blog.  Specifically, free money.  Now, we all could use a little free cash, but most of us don’t bother because we believe it’s a scam.  Well, today I’m going to discuss Swagbucks, and its use to get free money.

I don’t have a ‘real’ job, so I can spend my time fiddling around on the internet, finding various things to do, and one of those things is to try to make some money to buy Christmas and Birthday gifts for my better half, because how crappy is it to get a gift, but know you had to pay for it, so it’s really not a gift at all?  It’s more like, “Surprise! I spent your money on a gift for you, and used your money to buy tape and wrapping paper, and you’re probably not going to like it, but it’s the thought that counts, right? (Sucker)”

I signed up for Swagbucks ages ago, but found it difficult to earn them, so gave up on it.  Recently, I decided to give them another shot, so I reset my password (yeah, it had been so long, I’d forgotten the original one), and, although it’s not a lot, I’ve made an average of about Continue reading
