Breaking Through Blogger’s Block

Every now and then, I find myself with Blogger’s Block, a.k.a. Writer’s Block In the Blogging World.  I’ll sit here staring at a blank screen, feeling frantic as I watch the minutes creep past, worried that an idea just won’t come.  I’ve sat for hours trying to think of a topic to post about sometimes (not literally, I get up to do other things, but that page is still there, accusingly naked, in my mind), and as the time ticks by, I get that sinking feeling that I may not be able to come up with anything to write about at all.

Recently, I’ve come up with a few tried and true ways to smash through Blogger’s Block, for me at least, and I thought that perhaps some of you might appreciate the suggestions, so here they are: Continue reading

Congratulations on getting 200 total likes on Free, Fun or Interesting.

Most Likes in One Day

On Thursday August 15, 2013 you surpassed your previous record of most likes in one day ( 17 ) for your posts on Free, Fun or Interesting. That’s pretty awesome, well done!

AND…

On Monday, August 12, 2013, my blog surpassed its previous record of most views in a day.  Previously the record was at 59, and it is now up to 63!

Thank you all so much for visiting, commenting and supporting my blog!  Your support truly keeps me going, and I thank you!

Drugs, Dentists and Sleep Deprivation

9 Aug

As I sit here, going on 39 hours without sleep, doped up on Hydrocodone and an extra hole in my head, I realize that this may not be the most opportune time to be posting on my blog, but I’ve really missed you guys, and I’ve really missed sharing with y’all.

For the past five days or so, I’ve had a great blog post topic in my head to write about, and I can’t wait until tonight when I will post it for everyone.  It might be a little out there, but I hope that you will enjoy it or at the very least that it will make you think.

Just wanted to let you all know that I’m still here and that I will be posting later this evening.  It would have been last night, but an unexpected dental emergency left me unable to string my thoughts together enough to make sense.

Until later, my friends!

Technology, Relationships and Night Shift

4 Aug

So, I haven’t posted anything these last couple of days.  My Love is on his long stretch of days off, which means that I’m spending less (read: almost no) time on the computer, and more time interacting with him or cuddled beside him reading a book while he catches up on his man-soaps (read: Wrestling).  I approach these long stretches of time with mixed emotion. Thank you

Thank you (Photo credit: Avard Woolaver)

I’d like to send out a little thank you to all of my subscribers, as well as those of you who stopped by my blog yesterday for a visit.  You really made my day!  Thanks to you all, yesterday was a record high for Free, Fun or Interesting, surpassing my previous ‘Best Ever Views’ by nearly 35%  and the number of followers is also at a record high.  I will spare you the reenactment of the happy dance I did when I saw my stats this morning.

I truly appreciate all of you taking the time to read and/or comment, and for putting up with a plethora of subject matter.  The fact that you guys put up with my special brand of crazy really means a lot to me, and I hope that, even though my topics are all over the map, you continue to find something worth reading here for a long time to come!

Thanks again, and you all are awesome!

Help Others

Please allow me a moment if you would, to introduce you to a fellow artist.

Born in Iceland in 1969, Artis considers himself a ‘visual artist’ and I would have to agree.  His photography is certainly a visual delight.  He’s spent a lifetime developing his personal style, which he calls ‘No-Rule Art’, about which he says, “I simply make my own path without any particular rules or guidelines. In that way I feel free in my creation of my work.”  As a producer of high quality photo art from Scandinavia and Europe, his love for not only his art medium, but for his subjects is made obvious in both the words he writes, and his work on display.

What differentiates Artis from the thousands of other blogs on the internet? you may ask.  His difference is in the way he has approached the dilemma we bloggers/artists face; that of being one of a million faces in a crowd.  I ran across his blog by seeing a post he had written, calling artists- whether you create your art with a camera, a paintbrush, or a typewriter- to come together and help one another.  To reach out a hand to others, and help promote and share our work as a united group, using our blogs to help spread exposure for one another; to share with our readers a glimpse of art/artists that they otherwise may not have run across in this enormous world of the internet. Coming Soon: Shout-Outs, FYI’s and (maybe) A Give-Away!

Blog Art Coming Soon

Just a quick post to let you guys know what’s coming up.

I won’t be making a ‘regular’ post until Saturday.  Quality time with the better half takes priority, but when I return, I’ve got several things lined up to post about.  Firstly, I’ll be posting about a great blog (Artis, the link is already in the right sidebar if you want a sneak peek), as well as a post about Artwork and Certificates of Authenticity so if you’re an artist, you may want to check that one out!  Also, I’m coming up on 100 followers for my blog, and I’m considering a give-away to celebrate.  I can’t promise that it’s going to be something full of awesomeness, but I’ll be letting you guys know more soon!

See you soon!
